With the clocks going back, and the leaves falling off the trees,
and Christmas not all that far around the corner, there's no denying
that we're approaching winter now. Well, there are compensations,
most notably in the form of great warming Italian red wines...

We're really
looking forward to this unique wine tasting and wine dinner at The
Globe on Thursday. This is the rare chance to sample some of Italy's
most prestigious and iconic wines, such as the great Tuscan classic
Tignanello as well Serego Alighieri Vaio Armaron, the original Amarone,
alongside other wines that I consider amongst the very best that
Italy has to offer. To accompany this selection of great wines, Liz
and James at The Globe have put together a fantastic 'tasting menu'
for us. I'm impressed: they have really given careful thought to
the wines we'll be tasting, and have come up with a fascinating selection
of foods to pair with each. Hopefully it will be an amazing evening.

This evening of great wines and great foods
is necessarily limited to a small group, and it's priced at £45
per person. I've still got a few places left so if anyone would

Vino Christmas Party Wed December 12th at The Globe
The annual Vino Christmas party will take place at The Globe on
the evening of Wednesday December 12. This is a decidedly informal
wine tasting, pasta and risotto feast, and casual get-together
with friends. We'll be tasting some wines for the holidays, and
the emphasis will most definitely be on swallowing, not spitting!
Cost for the evening to include wines and pasta and risotto is £25
(£30 for non-CV members). If you'd like to join us, can
you please email me as soon as possible to reserve your place.

Christmas and Holiday Gift Boxes
I may be biased, but I do believe that wine is the one gift that
is almost always appreciated by just about everyone. Once again,
we'll have a good selection of Christmas wine and olive oil boxes
available. Our plain glass decanters (perhaps with a bottle of
Barolo) also make great gifts. And don't forget Drop Stops for
the perfect stocking filler. If you have any special holiday
requirements, just let us know.
